The press see her as "'a treasure ...’"; industry professionals refer to her as "‘an artist of uncommon talent and sensibility’"; Carlos Santana’s description, "‘Her music reflects a strong, deep and honest commitment to life.'" She's called on to, as Duke Ellington might say to, "' ... add the lace.'". la Maestra Marcia Migét is an accomplished performer, composer and educator who is the living example of her rich musical heritage.

With skills that cross multiple genres most recently she’s recorded with Dr. Anthony Brown and the Asian American Orchestra on his Gershwin project; her latest project-as-producer is Passing the Baton: the Miget-Redd Session Part 1; and performed with the Northern California Lighthouse Singers 25th Anniversary conducted by Helen Stevens and Stephen Roberts. 2004 she performed with Wayne Wallace and Pete Escovedo at Vallejo’s Jazz Festival.
Director of Miraflores Academie since 1988 and Member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences her performance pedigree includes multiple appearances with Carlos Santana, and such notables as Freddy Redd, Larry Ridley, Jimmy Cobb, Buddy Baker, Kenny Barron, Orestes Vilato, Frank Foster, Pete Escovedo, Donald Byrd, Chick Corea, Tyrone Hill of Sun Ra’s Arkestra, Anthony Brown and the Asian American Orchestra, Carl Perazzo, Garth Webber, Phish, Wayne Wallace, John Santos, Babatunde Lea, Abel Sanchez with Jorge Santana and the SF Kids, Jaimeo Brown and Dartanyan Brown to name a few. Her band has opened for Chick Corea, Kenny Loggins, Phoebe Snow and performed on MTV with Rickie Lee Jones. She has been the featured performer with the James Cleveland Choir at the Gospel Music Workshop of America, in a 2003 Jam Session Tribute to Oscar Peterson at the Toronto International Association of Jazz Educators Convention, and at the 2004 International Association of Jazz Educators’ Convention New York performing with the Historically Black College Allstar Band and the African American Jazz Caucus Big Band.
Having grown up in a family of musicians who performed extensively throughout the Midwest, on national television and radio, presenting special events and musical clinics is nothing new. Studying piano, saxophone and flute from a very early age, her talent and commitment to music were evidenced through numerous awards from classical music competitions and prompted her selection as a NEA Artist-in-Residence.
The core impetus behind her music, its cross-genre influences and ethnic origins is her vast experience with a variety of styles including Latin, gospel, folk, and the American Classical artform know as, Jazz. Her latest projects involve elements of Afro-Latin and South American rhythms with contemporary urban grooves. A past Artist-in-Residence for the National Endowment of the Art’s ‘Jazz Artist in Schools’ Program, her Bachelor of Music is from Drake University (in Flute and Piano Performance).
